After the first lesson of Live Sound in AUS220 there are lots of lessons I learned how to setup and start running live sound system properly. The different thing about live sound from others is Live sound is more based on strict procedures and steps. Now i’m a bit understand why SAE started to teach live sound after Tri 3. Because we (students) need to follow the same procedure and can’t do silly mistakes. Lots of risks can come from one mistake. It is able to understand Live sound if we understand the signal flow it is not that hard to catch up on live sound. Finally it is also time to learn about AVID Protool S3 Control Surface too. S3 is more like advance for Tascam we learnt back in Trimester 2 and there are different input from stage box, output, signal generators from console and inputs on the console itself. Signal routing was pretty simple and also the way to control EQ, Compression, Gating and also applying plugins such as Reverb and Delay are also fun to learn. Signal flow is pretty simple and more like in protools. But the main thing is need to be more careful with whatever we are doing since minor mistakes can done major problems. I really like the way console works and looking forward to learn more and how to make a bit more complex setups than what we did in Week 5 Day 1.
