Here is my picks of 10 Trance tracks from February 2017.
Chris Schewizer - Shadows (8.5 / 10) [Who’s Afraid of 138]
Since last year Chris Schewizer try to change his style completely from Big Room Trance (Trance 2.0) to a bit more banging 138-140 bpm Tech Trance. Since last year he keep delivering quality bangers on after another with his furious baseline and energetic breakdown. He tried to make fusion of the way Tech Trance goes harder and more pumping style and he add big room flavour lead into it. As usual of Chris Schewizer tracks the breakdown are not really melodic it more like giving rest from the drop. So most of the people who crave for melodic Trance will not be a big fan of this kind of stuff. Shadows is a powerful Tech Trance track that will explode to any dance floor near you. So if you look something to get energise at 1 am in the morning just get into the Shadows for a while.
Craig Connelly ft. Jessica Lawrence - How Can I (10 / 10) [Higher Forces]
Finally after waiting long enough Craig Connelly DJ/Producer from UK release his debut album One Step Closer #3 and #8 spot on UK and US iTune charts. He has been kicking off and well known in Trance scene since 2010 with one after another releases. How Can I is the track can out as single when the album is available as pre-order on iTune. The intro pads are a bit emotional and then suddenly came in with driving and hard pounding kick as usual in Uplifting Trance. The track is powered by amazing vocal of Jessica Lawrence with progressive feel which come together with uplifting rolling leads. The album feature 12 tracks and you can get different taste and sub genres of Trance throughout the whole album. So hope you check out the whole album with raw emotion, powerful vocals and really well arranged tracks.
Attila Syah & LTN - Bromo (9 / 10) [Sunda Music]
There are not much well known Trance producers in Asia but Attila Syah and LTN have lot of releases in the biggest dance music label such as Armada and also other different well known Trance labels such as Abora, Sunda Music, Future Sound Of Egypt, Black Hole and many more. This is also a team up of two really close Indonesian friends so the track name come out as Bromo. They had a collar before but under different style Progressive Trance. This time they come with Emotional and Banging Uplifting Trance. Both of the producers did lots of different style Progressive Trance, Big Room Trance (Trance 2.0), Uplifting Trance and Psy Trance. This track will the second Uplifting Trance track from LTN and it fills with energised Acid basslines and came along with beautiful pluck melodies. In the breakdown there is powerful and emotional pads fill with well chopped vocal effects. And the main drop came up with Banging kick, rolling bassline and nice percussion with melodic rolling plucks and a bit of energetic acid baseline as usual we seen in Banging Uplifting Trance tracks.
Raz Nitzan, Kate Louise Smith - This Time (Steve Allen Remix) (10 / 10) [Amsterdam Trance Recordings]
Since late 2016 duo from UK, Allen & Envy got split up and Steve Allen keep going with amazing tracks after another. Allen & Envy become popular because of the remixes they did back in 2014 for DRYM’s tracks Stole The Sun and Silhouette. From then they got supported by Armin and invited to A State Of Trance Festival 650. From then they keep releasing lots of remixes and original tracks. This Time track was made by Raz Nitzan who is the owner of Raz Nissan music which have lots of sub labels under it and powered by beautiful vocal of Kate Louise Smith. The original track is a bit more Progressive style and slower than the Steve Allen Remix. But with Steve Allen touch as usual of his style Powerful banging in the beginning and melodic driving in the main drop after the breakdown. What I really really like about this track is it only have 5 mins and every got fit in perfectly. Normally Uplifting Trance tracks are more than 7 mins but this one is just 5 min and fit all of the parts in extended intro, vocal come in, drops arrangements. As usual they chop and loop on main part of the vocal and repeat it a few more times to driving together with melody.
Sneijder & Christina Novelli - Love Of My Control (Sam Jones Remix) (9.5 / 10) [Who’s Afraid Of 138]
After a huge success of Vocal Uplifting Trance track of Sneijder & Christina Novellia, finally Love of My Control got dark and psychedelic treatment from Sam Jones. Sam Jones was well known of a bit darker Progressive Psy Trance since last year with his release of Charlie Charlie on Damage Control recordings using sounds from horror movies as samples. But for this Love Of My Control remix he pretty try to balance the way he did with darker style and melodic. We can see atmosphere which are a bit darker sounds and also together with uplifting rolling melodic leads. In the riff from breakdown to drop he tried to bring it back to darker sound with lots of FXs and come into drop with rolling kick and bassline alongside with lots of FXs are happening in the backend. Can also see tried to chop vocals and fit in as FXs.
Arctic Moon - Cyberpunk (9 / 10) [Future Sound Of Egypt]
Polish trance prodigy always suprise with different kind of styles as always but this time is more like follow up for his track Data Ghost made back in 2016. This track come with luscious melodies, computerised sound in the breakdown and palpitating and driving fat basslines. The track is a bit twist nor like other Uplifting Trance because the main drop is more like Anthem style tough metallic bass lines, driving punchy drums with massive hardstyle hard trance approach acids.
Pure NRG - Prophecy [Istoria Anthem 2017] (10 / 10) [Black Hole Recordings]
Pure NRG a duo Solarstone and Giuseppe Ottaviani have lots of great release in the past few years such as Scarlett, Secret Of Sahara, Era. The track was made for one of the biggest Trance event Istoria in Australia which is known as Atlantis before. In the past few years MaRLo contribute anthems but for this year Pure NRG came up for Istoria anthem. You can see the track with marching drums, pretty fast tempo, lots of bouncy side chain baseline and strong percussion lines. In my opinion Prophecy is the best track so far from Pure NRG. Because the whole track full with full energetic uplifting style, pumping and groovy kick with bouncy baseline, guitar melody and huge uplifting synths. For the clubs festivals and also for workout at gym this track Prophecy will help to charge your adrenaline to maximum.
Simon O’Shine & Ahmed Romel - Erytheia (9.5 / 10) [Grotesque]
After 3 years from their collaboration of L’Absente track Simon O’ Shine and Ahmed Romel come back again with track name Erytheia. But it is different the track they worked together before this time is more plucky melodic, angelic emotions in the breakdown with beautiful pads, and superb baseline and driving kick will hook you up in the drop. If you are looking for pure uplifting trance with solid tight foundation baseline, plucky sweet melodic synths and groovy energy make sure to check this one out. For me personally I prefer their old collab because it’s a bit more emotional with heavenly melody. But this track will also bring you to the climax with with full on colourful hooks along with various synth plucks.
Indecent Noise - Paint In Black (9 / 10) [Damaged]
Indecent noise make his debut on Damaged Record with his usual Banging and driving Acid Tech Trance track. It has hard hitting Acids, huge bass and melodic breakdown which will do lots of Damaged to the dance floor for sure. We can see pounding drums, pounding metallic basslines and acid baselines with vocal snippet along with euphoric uplifting breakdown. I’m sure this will take you to the dark naughty and aggressive mood. So make sure you got Damaged and paint it in black.
ReDrive & NG Rezonance - Neoteric (F.G. Noise Remix) (10 / 10) [Beyond Belief Recordings]
Lately F.G Noise made number of huge remixes and this time he give a banging treatment to ReDRive & NG Rezonance PsyTech Trance track. I’m a big fan of this track because of it metallic sound melody and driving baseline and the best part is the kick in the face. In the breakdown great melody, razor sharp metallic synths, and can great dynamic roughness and melody. When you get to the climax it shows of the dynamic that the kick in the face along with razor sharp synths and metallic bassline will melt you for sure.
