What genres or styles of music are most unfamiliar to me

The music genre I’m into is Trance and all sub genres of it. I also listen to other electronic music genres such as Synth pop, Techno, House, Future Bass, Hardstyle and others. So the most unfamiliar to me is organic music such as live bands that played rock, metal and it’s sub genres. I listened to those but just popular and mainstream ones not as much as I listen to electronic music.

What production techniques could be learned from investigating these style? Especially with mixing because according to different genres, different elements are important in. Recently I’m doing a mixing for one of the post rock band called Pandelic. Theirs sounds are more like ambient and chill but for the mixing it’s different from other rock genres I used to know. They want more guitar sounds and just a bit of drum stuffs. I’m also working together with on of the band member on project that combining Post Rock and Trance music. It’s good to learn by working the other genre track and putting my knowledge on it and do something as experimental.

(Music Production) What is the most interesting new technique, concept or tool that I learnt this week in my specific intensive? This week music production class is more about discussing between group members that what we going to do for the project and bringing up our different ideas and combine. But only 3 from our group make it to the class since others on vacation so me and Nic did electronic production so we start to discuss with what we want to do. Then we come with the idea of future bass we show our reference sounds we want and start working on our own part. I’m doing such as Trance pads and Nic come up with drum rolls and percussion and Jermy working on synths. It was a good session but we gonna do draft demo with what we can do and coming up next week.
