For the jingle project of AUD210 I choose Price Of Persia: The Forgotten Sand game trailer. Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is a video game which is release in 2010. This is the last Prince Of Persia game release on consoles and PC platform. In this game after the Prince comes to his brother Malik's aid in the middle of a war for his kingdom, Malik unleashes an ancient evil like no other upon the enemy unaware of the consequences of his actions. Since I have to do jingle for 5 minutes I combined three different game trailers to make one. The first one trailer shows more about storyline and the last two more about game play scenes. For the whole jingle project I set the tempo around 90 BPM compose the music using Native Instrument Kontakt VST on Ableton. Since the game is about Persia I tried to get it sound like middle east influence so I tried to compose in A Major. I used instruments such as Tanpura, Cello, Viola. For the part that show the scene of battle I used instruments such as Timpani, Bass drum, French Horn and Tuba. FX sound for the parts that some kind of horror things show up on the screen I used the sound from Serum FX. For the last game playing part I used a drum loop from KSHMR sound pack along with 2 different synth from Kontakt. After the composition done I started with balancing levels of each channel and start doing EQ and a bit of compression.

For the Cello EQ I cut everything under 60 Hz and over 15 kHz and boost 3 dB around 550 Hz, and cut 6dB around 3 kHz. For Brass I cut under 80 Hz and over 8.5 hHz then boost 4 dB around 162 Hz and cut 4 dB and 6dB around 460 Hz and 770 Hz. For Viola I cut everything under 75 Hz and boost the high ends +3 dB with high shelf filter from 6 kHz, also boost 4 dB around 240 Hz and cut for 3dB and 6dV around 600 Hz and 2.5 kHz. For Timpani I cut everything under 85 Hz and - 6dB cut around 380 Hz and boost +4 dB around 230 Hz and 2.1 kHz and high shelf boost +2 dB from 8 kHz. For French Horn I cut everything under 55 Hz and above 6.5 kHz and boost for 4 dB at 340, 1 db at 740, 2 dB at 3.5 kHz and cut 6 dB at 1.2 kHz. For Tuba I cut everything under 100 Hz and over 1.5 kHz also cut off the frequency around 220 Hz and boost +3 dB and 1 dB at 340 Hz and 740 Hz.
After the composition done I move on to the part sampling and some voicer over. First I planned to sample most of the sound but I don’t have much time left to finish the project. I recorded the water drop sound with my phone that used in the early part of the trailer and also recorded my voice and manipulated using iZotope vocal synth to get the sound that ghosts are shouting. I downloaded some sounds from freesound.org to put in the project such as Horse galloping, Ambient battle noises, Explosion, Building Destructions, Catapults and sand falling. I put reverb on some samples that is necessary.
For the last game playing part first I tried to play drums using VST but according to the feedback that those drums are kinda like hip hop thing and it’s not fit with the earlier scenes
I have some problems through working through Ableton with Video. But I tried my best to fit everything on time. Then I export the audio file as wav file and combine with video again in Final Cut. During this jingle project one of the most important thing I learned is backup the projects straight away after I work. I lost the first bit I did because my laptop was stolen so I have to redo everything again and I need to rush everything to the end to finish in right. I also learn a lot of stuffs every time I work on Ableton.
From this Jingle I learned more about music composition and also putting the right sound in right places. I As I mentioned earlier I satisfy with the outcome but I don't get the actual result that I planned at the beginning of the project. I was planning to record all of the sound samples by myself and manipulate to the sound I want. But I didn’t achieve that.
For this whole trimester I satisfy with the outcome of the projects I’ve done and also there are some room for improvements. I send to some of the friends who are working in audio related industry and get feedbacks for my works so It also tell me what I need to improve more. I am really enjoyed this semester especially with Sound A Like project that taught me a lot especially with team work and also EMP give me a kickstart for what I want to do.
