Music and Cover Artworks (Blog 4 Week 5 CIU110)

Music Coverarts

I love good graphic designs. I also do some graphic designs with my self learning with online tutorials. I want to see a good cover art on the music I like. There are also some people that they like to buy the album because of the cover artwork. But the cover artwork of the music a big square with a picture can represent what the artist and their music was all about. Nowadays most of the album artwork is initially viewed on the computer or smartphone screens. But in old days those cover artworks can be seen on the vinyl, CD came along with covert and lyric booklets.

There’s a saying “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”. I accept that saying and I never judge a book or music by it’s covert. Every great album comes with a great artwork. When it come to songs releases it might seem that it’s all about the music but still the artwork is the face of the album. First impression is central to it’s success.

Having a good album artwork can express your songs, Still music is the most important part in the release of singles/albums. Artwork is just a visual summary of the songs. The design of the album/single’s cover perfectly combines the style of the music and the purpose of the song and in a way that attract visually attracts listeners. Since creating music is a form of creating art, music covert can display you individually as an artist and illustrate your style.

This is the album covert of one of my favorite tracks. My most favorite music genre is Trance and this is a Dark Progressive Psy-Trance track which is really dark and it make me feels like someone punch into my chest and grab my heart. I can also see on the covert and the track name it’s like every burn down and a wasteland.

This is another Uplifting Trance track named Lights will guide you home. It use vocal samples and the track melodies at breakdown give me feels like it’s leading me to somewhere. Also the cover art shows the light will guide you to the place where you belong.

There’s also some of my works one of the music label which released on iTunes/Beatport. It was started as I was helping my friend to run a label. I have no idea, no workflow at first. But after a certain amount of time I try to follow the song title and show the expression of the track on the cover art. You can check my works here.
