When it comes to a word audio many things fit under that one word.
Audio signal, digital audio, audio engineering, acoustic, sound recording and production, sound reinforcement and live sound etc….
Since I’m an audio engineering student I’m starting to train myself to fit in many different kind of things. Because most of the audio engineers job are not like day job regular stuffs. Most of the stuffs audio engineers jobs are like self employed or freelance jobs. So we need to choose wisely and planned our time.
For me my opinion is try to work in many different areas in audio as much as I can. Because I want many different kind of experiences, meet different kind of people and getting more connections. What I believe this kind of industry is having more connections can get more jobs to do and earn more.
So, for having connections and getting people trust we need to have a good portfolio. Because in this kind of industry everything is more practical. Employers want to check the outcome. They want to see that the outcome is what they are expected or not. And another important thing with audio jobs is teamwork. Employers are looking for the people who can cooperate, expert and people who always come up with new ideas.
Another thing I found out recently by myself is as an Audio Engineer you need to explain your Employees(artist) well. Because they need to trust you more. And for something like recordings you also have to help the artist to have self confident. One another thing is problem solving skills according to the clients wants. Because people working in this industry are somehow connected. If you get more recommendations for other it is more easier to meet more and big clients
