Make a living with Creative Media is not a easy job. But I always ask myself why should I go to the work everyday for the things I don’t want to do. If I’m working on something I want to do I never feel tired, bored and even I don’t feel like I’m working. It’s more like I’m just doing what I love or what I want to do. So make a living in Creative Media Industry there are many ways. We can have different kind of incomes for our works.

We can be an employee in a media companies or free lance designers, composers or maybe resident DJs or bands at clubs or bars. Some people have normal day jobs for living to pay the rent and do what they love at night or free times. Some of the music producers/Djs have their day job before they get a big success in their career. They go for a normal job at day time for rent and earn money and they produce music at night and Djing at clubs on weekend. They will earn only a little at the start. When they reach to a certain level they quit their day job. Some people quit their dayjob before they reach to a certain level that they can earn enough money in creative media industry. But that’s not a point about working in creative media industry is about having a passion what you are working on. If you fail what will you do. I will start trying back from beginning again and again without giving up on it. Because I can say that great success can’t be earn in a short time. There are some big artist that inspired me. When I look their interviews, documentary they never stop giving up on their dreams, work as much as they can with the time they have. We can know that by looking their tour dates, their studio albums. They were touring around the world all the time and also in the same time they were working on new music, new edits. Some artists run their own events they even have to look back the team for making the shows perfect. They will run their radio shows, stages in music festivals. It’s all about doing a business. In Creative Media Industry we can’t also be like I will work only for this or only for that certain kind of thing. We need to earn as much as we can. Because the equipments and accessories we had to invest are expensive. We need to work in many areas different kind of projects to earn enough money to invest for our career. Let’s look about how can we earn money in creative media industry or selling our arts.

Running Your Own Studio

It might be a big thing with big investment. So it will no be easy to start career as running an own studio. But running an own studio will not have a regular income like weekly/monthly basics. We need to meet more clients and also well recognized by others. Because if the people don’t know your works they don’t want to pay much money for the projects.

Crowdfunding

Crowdfunding is one of the big source for creative media projects. It’s like people buy our services or projects before it is released. The organization hosting the website,the promoters and contributors pay as contributions for services.

Day Job

As I mentioned before we need to have income for our rent and food by working a day job. But most of the day jobs can be repetitive, harder to be creative. But based on income needs this is also an option to consider.

Consulting

Consulting is also a big part in creative media industry. These days in Electronic music productions there are lots of producers that help on upcoming talented producers’ projects. They also charge for those. You can also get money from like giving tuitions or short courses.

Public Speaking

Creatives are often asked to give presentations at events. But not all of there can be paid and some are paid for travel and living. But from those kinds of events we can have new connections, new clients and make more money.

Commissions

Commissions is like to pay a team who bring proposals about projects or works to the client.

Funding

Funding is like government organizations or certain group that gonna fund for your creative projects.

Residencies

Residencies jobs are Djs / bands play in clubs or bars regularly. There can also be promoters job as a residencies.

Sponsorship

For the artist they can get sponsors from instrument companies or other different companies such as clothing, fresh drinks and many more.

Advertising

For advertisements we can get paid every time our project shows up in advertisement on tv or billboards etc...
